2010 Relay for Life of Gresham This will be Smith Memorial’s second year to enter a team in this event. Relay For Life, July 31 and August 1, is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity and offers us the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people will be camping out at Centennial High School from 7:00PM to 10:00AM taking turns walking or running around the track. The atmosphere surrounding this event is truly memorable.  There is something for all ages -- games, food, music -- you can’t help feeling part of something very special. Entire families participate! Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a life-changing experience. At Relay, every person in the community has a chance to celebrate, remember, and fight back. And every person who participates joins others around the globe as part of this worldwide movement to end cancer. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Smith Memorial’s team this year is titled Clowning Around. On October 19th, 2010, Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church will be 120 years old!  To prepare for that milestone, the Session started a year-long celebration beginning with Worldwide Communion Sunday October 4, 2009.  During the year long celebration, people, productive paths, and the promises that have been fulfilled throughout the history of our church will be recognized.  We will recall changes in the United States history since 1890 when the worshipping community first gathered in what is now the Fellowship Hall.
