Creekside Sanctuary Dedicated

Creekside Sanctuary Dedicated September 27

On Sunday, September 27 Creekside Sanctuary was dedicated as a sacred space at the East end of the parking lot.  A video of the building of the steps and development of the Sanctuary were shown during both church services on October 4.

Many volunteers have worked on removing invasives and building a trail to the creek over the past few months. It all started two years ago when Americorp working under SOLV cleared out brush and invasives exposing our beautiful Fairview Creek. Brush and invasives grew up again and the dream of what could be disappeared until it was cleared out again this past winter. The new trail was so steep that we decided to build steps to make it easier and more accessible to everyone.

Lowe’s gave us a 50% discount on the wood and rebar for reinforcing the steps. Rodarte Construction Company (223rd widing) has helped us immensely by donating gravel and rocks for the trail and hauling them from the construction zone to the creek area. SOLV donated and delivered the underlayment material and bark chips. The bench was designed, built, and donated by Dave Hyde.  Many of the big rocks lining the trail are actually from the foundation of Fellowship Hall that were removed during the rebuild of the corner foundation ten years ago, hence we are calling the trail "Foundation Trail". The steps were designed and built by Morris and Leanne Kindel, Dave Hyde, Jeff Muceus, Mark and Troy Danielson, Eric Pulliam and Linda Ferris. Marie Squires is the elder over the project and Marcia Chiaudano is the facilitator. Many hours of loving labor were put into this project by many volunteers with the hope of providing a beautiful, sacred space to meditate and draw closer to God.

Come to the creek for a spiritual renewal - pray, read your Bible, study native plants along the trail, dip your feet in the creek, or rest on the new bench overlooking the creek. Let your troubles melt and be whisked away out of sight for the moment.  We hope you enjoy this special place called Creekside Sanctuary!
