Biography

Cynthia has been the pastor at Smith Memorial since 1996.   A graduate of USC and Fuller Theological Seminary, she likes to study the Scriptures and present inspirational sermons that connect ancient texts to our daily lives.  As the moderator of our Session (board of elders), she leads, administrates, coordinates volunteers and helps to cast vision for the direction of the church.   She officiates at weddings and funerals and is just a phone call away in time of emergency or tragedy.  Cynthia is also active in the Chamber of Commerce, Government Affairs Council and Gresham Center for the Arts Foundation.  In her free time she enjoys making music, doing art, or going to shows by local musicians.  Her husband, Michael, is an ordained Presbyterian minister who teaches advanced mathematics, Bible and theology at Portland Lutheran High School.    They live in Gresham with their two daughters, Rachel and Laurel.
