CHILDREN / YOUTH

YOUTH MINISTRY SCHEDULE

We have lots of activities for youth.  Visit our Youth Ministry page for current events.

Children’s Chapel

The purpose of Children’s Chapel is to strengthen Christian formation by providing an additional worship environment where children can participate in the act of worship at their level. Children’s Chapel combines elements of children’s worship and children’s Sunday school into one. It encourages the spiritual development of our children beyond just knowing about the stories of the Bible but also to encounter and give thanks to the God who loves them through the practice of discipleship and Christian worship.  Children’s Chapel is led by at least two volunteers who have passed background checks and have been trained to provide a loving and safe environment for the children in their care.

Children’s Chapel begins immediately after the children’s sermon. However, on Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of the month) there will be no Children’s chapel, so that the whole family of God can be together for communion.

Children’s Chapel is intended for children in grades K-4th. The reason we encourage 5th graders to remain in worship every week is that a lot of research has been done to show long-term benefits in faith formation when children begin to attend the entire worship service with their parents around the ages of 9-10. However, we also recognize the need for 5th graders and other children to build healthy Christian relationships with their peers. Thus, we have special activities throughout the year for our 5th-8th graders.

Family Fellowship

We invite families of all shapes and sizes to join us for Family Fellowship on the second Sundays of the month.  After worship, we will usually get together for lunch and then engage in some sort of fun activity or service project.  For example, we might go hiking, bowling, or play silly games.  Or we might reach out to the homeless or visit a retirement community.   All children and youth with their parents/guardians are welcome to participate.

High School Youth Group

Our high school students meet once a month for fellowship and other special events.   Over the summer, they may go on a mission trip or a retreat or triennium.

Vacation Bible School

During summer, we host a big Vacation Bible School for K-5th graders - usually mid to late July.  This event is free for everybody.  Click here to register online.
